.the windy city.
Me and the other half took an impromtu trip to Chicago last weekend to meet up w/ this goofy couple and a little person. We almost didn't make it because overnight it snowed about 4 inches. We got on the road though and it wasn't too bad but we almost turned around in Michigan City because someone *cough* Shaka *cough* was too dru... er... sleepy to answer her phone. Anywho, we had fun (even if if is like pulling teeth to get yall out the house) and as promised, I have pics. Enjoy!

.Smooth Girl 2004.
It's been announced every where else, but I might as well put it here as well, I officially won the Smooth Girl Competition!! This means I'll get a 7pg layout and an article in an upcoming issue of Smooth Magazine. Talk about exposure! I also want to say thanks to all the people who voted. It means a lot to me that so many people took time out of their busy schedules to votes. They're going to do a little something with all of the Top 10. There were some lovely ladies all throughout the competition so it should be hot.
Everything on the homefront is good. Me and the hubby are still enjoying our time together. He has been helping me so much with the modeling thing, from promotional stuff and web maintainence to just making sure I'm on time for stuff. I'm sure I wouldn't be so far along in my career if it weren't for him so I'm really glad I've got him. :D We had a good holiday season as well. I got more stuff after than before though because of all the sales and we all know how I can't resist a sale! I still need to buy more shoes though. :D
Since the shoot for the magazine will most likely be in February, I've been working out like crazy to get my abs in shape. If you know me, you would 1) Be shocked.
Amber works out? 2) Be amazed.
Amber knows how to work out? and 3) Be confused.
But Amber's so tiny... And yes, I usually am staunchly against working out and eating healthy (I HATE WATER) but in the business, you gotta be in shape. So by the shoot I should have abs that are well on their way to being ABS OF STEEL and a nice lil firm butt too. (I've given up hope for a big ol' ghetto booty:( )
I have a lot of travel planned this year so I'll try to be good and at least write when I go someplace and drop some photos as well. Do deep stuff this time because school is just starting back and it's already getting on my nerves. *sigh*

.the brawl.
As is has been replayed a million times, I'm sure everyone has seen/heard of the infamous Pacers vs. Pistons fans brawl. In case you've been living in a cave since Saturday, here's a brief rundown:
-Ben Wallace was fouled by Ron Artest
-Ben Wallace pushes Artest
-Artest doesn't react and goes to lay on the scorers' table.
-A fan throws a drink that lands on Artest
-Artests jumps into the crowd and starts fighting the fans.
-All hell breaks looses and Jermaine O'neal jumps in the Pacer v. fan fight
-Artest decks a fan standing on the floor
Here's the entire brawl from start to finish
http://mfile.akamai.com/12942/wmv/vod.ibsys.com/2004/1120/3935750.200k.asx
Now I wasn't watching the game so the first thing I thought when I heard about this was 'Oh God PLEASE tell me they weren't playing in Detroit.' But of course, they were. As everyone knows I'm from Detroit and proud of it, but it's gotten to the point where shit like this personally offends me. Sure none of the people involved have the slightest idea who I am but what they don't realize is that with every bad judgement they make, they make it hard on every Detroiter (myself included) who tries to do what's right and what's positive.
It's bad enough that I get all the 'You're too nice to be from Detroit,' 'You speak too well to be from Detroit,' and 'Nah, ain't no way you're from Detroit.' As if Detroit is full of uneducated, ghetto, hoodlums, who as he's saying hi is probably picking your pocket-type people. As if it's so improbable that there are good, honest, intelligent people from the city that don't immediately head to NYC, ATL, or LA at the first chance. I literally want to strangle someone every time I tell them where I'm from and I get that little raised eyebrow and this knowing 'Ohhhh.' as if they now have unlocked all the secrets to my personality.
But it doesn't end there. This has been, quite possibly, one of the worst weeks ever for Black people. The Vibe awards, this incident, and the college football brawl that took place the day after. All this is doing is telling white America that every negative stereotype they have about Black people being animals and never amounting to anything no matter how much help you give them is true. Rednecks all across the US are locking their daughters up and loading their rifles for the next time they see a 'coon' in the streets.
Everyday I hear Blacks complain about the stereotypes they face that hold them back and how unfair they all are but as unfair is it may be for a person from an all white community to think that the majority of young Black men are violent, what else are we really giving them to go on? I think as a community we need to stop doing the things that give our race a bad rap in order to have it, at least on the surface, disappear.
*sigh* But that calls for a grand societal change, and those things don't occur overnight. I just hope I can see the workings of it in my lifetime.

.who's democracy.
Let me begin by saying that this whole election process has me sick, from the campigns, to the republican scare tactics and of course, the final outcome. I've avoided even talking about it but I owe my fellow blogger and blog readers a piece of A.Fox's mind. *sigh* Here goes:
Bush is responsible for the worst deficit in over 75 years. He's the dumbest president we've ever had (IQ of 85 which puts him 10 IQ points above legally retarded), and he's the most inept military leader that we've ever had (following BAD intellignece repeatedly? going to war without a clear cut plan and staying involved without implementing some aftermath strategies to minimuize the amount of calsualties??) For FOUR YEARS he has PROVEN beyond a shadow of a doubt that he is an incompetent idiotic leader, yet you have people that voted for him because they don't THINK that Kerry would be better?? WHAT?? HOW COULD HE HAVE BEEN WORSE?? He's responsible for the loss of 1 million factory jobs in Michigan ALONE. He COMPLETELY dropped the ball with the No Child Left Behind program (Ask any current or future teacher) and he constantly makes his personal vexes national matters (same sex marriage anyone?). Thing about it is that a lot of peole when exit polled said that they might have thought that Bush was a complete NIMROD but that they voted for him because he was more "down to earth and likable" that they would like to have a guy like him "over for dinner". WHAT!!!?? This isn't the manager at the local Applebee's we are talking about, this is the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES! He doesn't have to be likable he has to be CAPABLE and BUSH has PROVEN that he IS NOT. He is an average man doing a job reserved for a phenomenal man and as a result we just limped through 4 years of bad policy, American deaths in a pointless war, mismanagement of WORLD funds and a crippling term of office to the reputation of America as THE world's leader. And here we are now gearing up for another 4 years. Cuba has stopped taken the American dollar because they know how much it's about to deplete in world markets. The Yen and Pound are both KILLING us in the world markets for like the first time in 12 years. And THIS is who America said they wanted another four years from.
Bush banked on the fact that putting such a volatile issue as same sex marriage would bring out the type of close minded, ignorant, scared grass roots consefvatives to the polls. The majority of people who voted for Bush said that their main issue wasn't the war on terror, but the moralistic issues that came up in the campaign. What people fail to realize is that regardless of your views on homosexuality and same sex marrige it does NOT have a place in goverment debate. Most people went to vote on whether to ALLOW homosexuals the right to marry, but all people have equal protection under the law. That right is not ours to grant or take away.
It seems as if the main issue to a lot of Bush voters was the moral reprocussions of the same sex marriage issue, and the lunacy of supporting that ban exist regarless of if you are talking about it from a moral standpoint OR a legal standpoint. Since morals are largely faith based and each individual is granted his/ her own faith under the law of the land then, the moralistic fiber of the gay/ homosexual community is not up for debate because of the fact that there IS a seperation of church and state, thus maintaining that the ultimate judge will be of that individuals belief system and not a group of judgemental white men in black robes. Does a state have a compelling interest in limiting marriage to one man and one woman and prohibiting same sex marriages? Is homophobia or animosity towards homosexuals a compelling state interest? NO. It is not. See LAWRENCE v. TEXAS, that will show you that LEGALLY there is no merit in the ban of same sex marriage. But it were these grass roots conservatives with intolerant beliefs and scared homophobic and racists men and women that pushed Bush over the edge. Mob mentality is a dangerous thing, but it is powerful. The Bush/ Cheney regieme is like a cartoon villian, it's so OBVIOUSLY corrupt but nobody does anything about it. Republican challengers in 90 percent black precints. NEW electronic ballots that leave no paper trial AND were provided by the very man that was the BIGGEST FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTOR TO THE BUSH CAMPAIGN. Republican supporters calling black voters and telling them if they have outstanding parking tickets/ warrants/ or unpaid child support they can't vote. Scare tactics and hijacking. But mob mentality is strong. We have all been witness to it's power in it's grandest form.
Oh and a little something from our friends in Great Britain.

.haters just don't understand.
So since the whole modeling thing has popped off, I've begun to experience what most would refer to as 'hate'. Now I've never been a big fan of the term mostly because it's severly overused and because it implies some air of superiority. However, we all know that there's nothing more ripe for hating than success.
Now I am by now means the next Tyra, Giselle, or Iman but I do plan to make an impact where I can. People, and by that I mean my lovely brothers and sisters, are always so extremely quick to point out your flaws when they think that somehow you aren't doing enough work for what you've got. Da hell? So since you think modeling is easy and that someone is giving me something you feel the need to be like 'Well if it wasn't for your boobs you'd be nothing!!' Yea... so I guess Halle would be nothin without her face, JLo nothing without the booty, and Michael Jordan nothing without his skill. That's the lamest argument I've ever heard in my life. How can you subtract a person's assets and then be like 'Aha! You've been exposed!! I think people see the ludicricy when it comes to talents or skills, but somehow don't think the same thing applies to physical attritbutes. Talk about your double and triple standard.
The main thing people fail to realize is that one little angry person on a quest to 'prove' I, Denzel, or Britney Spears don't deserve any accolades they recieve is an idiot. Talk about your fruitless occupations. Not only is it upaid, you could round up a whole legion of haters, make a
www.ihateafox.com site and it still wouldn't do anything but propel me, or anyone else, further.
But then again, stupidity is a form of therapy for some. It makes them feel important and it keeps my hit counter going up. I guess I shouldn't complain.

.t shirt contest.
Ok so I know you guys are really mad at me because I haven't done a good indepth update in quite sometime but school is a big, nasty, greasy, whore. The kind you can't shake no matter how many times you go to the 'bathroom' and tell her how much you love your 'girlfriend.' So even though I know how much you miss me, I only have time for a little update today.
I did a radio interview for
www.area309models.com. That was really fun! Made me kinda feel like I'm doing big things. I don't think I'll really feel it until the day people are throwing free stuff at me just because I'm me. (If you're one of those people that do that stuff, yea I'm looking at you Donatella, calll me.) The site is doing well. It gets plenty of hits and the forums are thriving. The hubby did a re-vamp a little while ago so if you haven't been in a while you might want to check it out.
I'm also doing a t-shirt design contest.
I will be opening the Trulyafox.com shop soon and I need ideas for an awesome T-shirt! If you have any graphic design skill at all, this contest if for you. One winner will be chosen to become the official Trulyafox.com t-shirt design and will recieve a free t-shirt along with a signed 8x10 of yours truly! If there are other great entries, I will consider doing a limited edition run of those as well and they also will recieve a t-shirt and an 8x10. I will be more inclined to print designs that use a small number of colors (one or two). Complete rules are on the forum so you'd have to login www.trulyafox.com/forum and register to post your entry. Once the pay site opens, I think I'm going to add a free pass to the site in there too.
Well that's its for now. Try not to miss me too much and watch for my Old Spice commercial to be aired during Michigan State football games beginning tomorrow and running for 4 weeks. :D

.the face of evil.
In my last entry I promised to tell you about the shoot. Talya did my makeup this time. (She did it the first shoot.) and I really liked how it came out. We were going for the 'wet' look so I didn't do anything to my hair prior to the shoot.
What 'wet' look A.Fox?
Funny you should ask, because that leads into the next comment I made about Tori being the devil. We'll he's probably lighter skinned that you would imagine the devil to be, but let me tell you, he's pure evil!!!
What makes him so evil?
Although it was a very sunny, beautiful day when we did the shoot, Tori somehow found the most frigid water he could to wet my hair and body.
Whoa, he was rubbing water on you?
Now see, if that wouldn't result in instant hand amputation from the hubby, that may have been a good idea. However, since it's not an option we implemented the let's-freeze-a.fox-to-death-to-get-this-shot-techinique. Also know as the pouring-a-cup-full-of-freezing-water-on-a.fox-techinque.
Exhibit A:
Now I know his face is being obscured by the water mark but I clearly see a smile. *my thoughts*
A smile? Oh so this is funny? Funny haha? So this is funny like I'm a clown? You want me to put on a big red nose and shoes and make balloon animals? Why I oughtta... Anywho, I must admit the shot was hot. Due to the fact that I was freezing all my muscles were tighted so I even look a little tone.
You sure whine alot.
Well this is my blog and I'm allowed to do so, but I didn't complain nearly this much at the shoot. After all, I did let them wet my HAIR and if that ain't a sign of trust, I don't know what is!

.i feel pretty.
Ok so some of you regulars have probably wondered where the 'disgrunteled boyfriend' comment came from the on the tagboard. Well that was of course the hubby and he had good reason to be digruntled: I forgot to mention the most important part of this week...
MY PRESENT! BLING BLING!!!
While we were are the mall a few weeks ago, I pointed out some earrings similar to these that I liked but they were asking something
mad outrageous. Fastforward a week when we are at Helzberg Diamonds visiting my sister (cuz um.. she works there, duh) and he pointed out these to me, and they were at a
much better price. I agreed they were nice and we continued on our way.
Unbeknowest to me, my hubby then proceeded to conspire with my sister to get me the earrings and gave them to me last Saturday. Awwwwwwww. Ain't he the sweetest? Back of biatches, he's mine!
I had another shoot today, but I'll post about that later. All I'm gonna say now is that TORI IS THE DEVIL!!!

.are those yours?.
If I've said it once, I've said it a million times, MY BOOBS ARE REAL!! Honestly, if they were fake, I'd let you know, but since me and my mom are the exact same build and wear the exact same bra size, I can't really escape them. They'd be a lot more fun if they were fake. I wouldn't have to wear industrial size bras so I could wear all those cuz backless shirts and tube tops. Plus, they'd stand straight up in the air forever.
If I were to get some form of elective surgery it would be LASIK so I'd be able to fuckin see, forget boobies. After that I'd probably get my boobs REDUCED if anything. Then I could have perpetually perky C cups and no back problems. Carrying around the twins really ain't a walk in the park; grooves in my shoulders, scars from my bras rubbing against me, poking into my skin, it's all pretty wack.
Now that I have that off my... umm.. chest... so to speak, they only other thing that's been going on is the start of the new school year. Classes begin tomorrow and honestly, I'd rather go skydiving off of light pole than go. I've been in school all summer so I'm really getting worn down. Luckily for me, this is my last year, so there's really not too much complaining that can be done. My forums are getting off to a good start, although some of you lurkers still haven't joined. The address is http://www.trulyafox.com/forum so log in today suckas!!!
Ciao bellas.
